About BuzzKit
BuzzKit is a free live quiz game for classrooms, at playbuzzkit.com. A teacher makes or imports a question set and hosts a game on the projector. Students join from any device with a game code. The same set can be played in many game modes, from Classic and Game Show to Race Mode, Stack Attack, Spike Run and walk-around worlds.
Who makes BuzzKit
BuzzKit is designed and built by Mason Buzzell, an independent developer in Omaha, Nebraska. Mason started it in 2026, inspired by games like Blooket and Gimkit, to make a more affordable option for teachers. It runs as part of BuzzCloud, Mason's own family of web apps.
The name comes from Mason's last name, Buzzell.
What BuzzKit isn't
BuzzKit is software that runs in a web browser. It isn't a set of game buzzers or any other hardware, and you don't need buzzers to play. It isn't made by, sold by or affiliated with any buzzer or game-show equipment company. It also isn't related to Playbuzz or to other apps and products that happen to use the name BuzzKit.
What it costs
Making question sets, hosting games and playing are all free. Students don't need accounts or downloads. Only the host makes a free account.
